Gilbert Achcar on the future of Egypt

Interesting interview on the situation. We can really only watch as this plays out, while trying to understand the situation as best we can. It's nice to be optimistic, but there's a long way to go before this is resolved, and even longer until we see whether Egypt is really going to go forward rather than backward. Achcar is notably guarded in his predictions.

None of which is to suggest that the status quo, or some minor fiddling with it, is an option.
