Rudd's sister quits ALP over same-sex marriage policy

Well no one has to remain in a political party if she disagrees with its policies. Sometimes, leaving may be the honorable thing to do.

And it's not that relevant that she's Rudd's sister, I suppose.

But look at the reason that Loree Rudd gives for opposing the policy of providing for same-sex marriage:
"I don't believe gay marriage is good for the community," she said.

"Homosexuals should be loved and treated right and they should not be discriminated against.

"It is a horrible thing for them to be discriminated against and that's why my brother introduced laws so they are not discriminated against.

"But to make that huge leap from their rights to breaking a commandment of Moses, to say homosexuals' relationships is marriage, is utter nonsense."
Once again, religion rears its head.

I didn't realise that we were subject to the commandments of Moses under Australian law...

What else have they been keeping from me?

And presumably the commandment of Moses is the one about executing people (or at least men) for homosexual conduct. Does she really want us to obey that commandment?

I take it there's a law prohibiting working on the Sabbath, one about being covetous, one prohibiting blasphemy and one about respecting your father and mother.

What do you mean the only two commandments that are law are stealing and murder, you heathen.

is rudds sister someone of note? i f-ing hate it when the media give a voice and a story to someone simply because they are related to someone of note.

(got to admit, bob katter's gay brother made me laugh, so i'm a hypocrite)
