Jerry Coyne on being good without God

For the one or two people in the world who haven't yet seen it, Jerry's new article in USA Today is well worth a look.

  1. I liked it, but this comment: "Secular reason adds another layer atop these evolved behaviors, helping us extend our moral sentiments far beyond our small group of friends and relatives — even to animals" is misleading. I don't need "secular reason" to feel compassion for suffering animals.

  2. This article was well written, and my first impression was that it had all been said before.

Then I looked at the comments.

So many people have either commented without reading, are just too dense and self righteous to think, or both.

I guess article like this will have to be written over and over again.
