Australian philosopher, literary critic, legal scholar, and professional writer. Based in Newcastle, NSW. My latest books are THE TYRANNY OF OPINION: CONFORMITY AND THE FUTURE OF LIBERALISM (2019); AT THE DAWN OF A GREAT TRANSITION: THE QUESTION OF RADICAL ENHANCEMENT (2021); and HOW WE BECAME POST-LIBERAL: THE RISE AND FALL OF TOLERATION (2024).
My condolences. My mother died a few years ago-- a long-running battle with cancer she was never going to win-- and there are still moments when I find myself biting my lip as I do or discover something I know she would have loved to experience or hear about. Even in their absence, Mothers are central. I hope the day passes without too much pain, and with some good memories to soften the time
